Feature
Every action recorded. Every record chained.
Signatures win or lose on evidence. SignSwifly records every view, signature and decision with time, IP address and device — then chains each event cryptographically to the one before it, so an entry edited or deleted later breaks the chain.
In detail
The hash chain
- Each entry’s SHA-256 hash covers who acted, what they did and when, their IP address and device, and the previous entry’s hash
- Editing or removing any entry breaks every hash after it — detectably
- Chain integrity is verified and stated on the certificate of completion
- A trail begun before the IP address and device were covered says so on its certificate
- If SignSwifly support ever opens an envelope’s contents, or your retention policy deletes its documents, that is written onto the same trail. Support’s reason is listed for your owner and admins under Settings → Team → Activity too
- So is putting an envelope on legal hold, or taking it off, with who did it and why (Scale, with the legal hold add-on)
The certificate of completion
- One PDF listing every recipient, role, action and timestamp — in UTC, while “Date signed” fields on the document use each signer’s own time zone
- Document fingerprints (SHA-256) before and after sealing
- IP addresses and device information for each signing event
- How signatures were made — typed, or a picture the signer’s browser reported as drawn or uploaded
- Who nominated whom, for nominated signers
- Sealed like the documents, so an edited copy fails validation; its own SHA-256 is recorded in the audit trail
- The SignSwifly ID on every page, covered by the seal
- Issued automatically the moment the envelope completes
Why it matters
The benefits
Disputes end early
Producing a verifiable chain usually ends the authenticity argument.
Nothing to assemble
The evidence pack builds itself as signing happens.
Honest by construction
Even if we rewrote the trail, it wouldn’t match the sealed certificate every party already holds.
Sign with evidence, not hope
Three envelopes a month are free, with no time limit. No credit card required.
