Anyone can draw a squiggle on a PDF. What matters is proving — years later, to a court or an auditor — who signed, what they signed, and that nothing changed afterwards. SignSwifly stacks five mechanisms to make that case.
Completed PDFs are cryptographically sealed to the international PAdES standard with SHA-256. Open one in any PDF reader and the signature panel verifies it; change a single byte and verification fails.
Each seal carries an RFC 3161 timestamp from an independent authority — proof of when the document was completed that doesn't depend on our clocks, with long-term validation built in.
Every event — sent, viewed, signed, witnessed, declined — is recorded with actor, time, IP address and device, and each record is cryptographically chained to the one before it. Altering or deleting any entry breaks the chain, and the trail can be verified independently of our systems.
Sealed documents are written to write-once storage in Australian data centres with a multi-year retention lock — not even our own operators can modify or delete a completed document.
Signers authenticate with a single-use 256-bit link; we store only a one-way hash of it, so even a database breach can't forge a signing session. SMS one-time codes can be added for higher-assurance workflows.
Electronic signatures are recognised across Australia under the Electronic Transactions Act 1999 (Cth) and state equivalents, and in New Zealand under the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017. SignSwifly is designed to satisfy their requirements — consent, identification, and a reliable method — and our certificate of completion packages the proof for every envelope.
Storing keys in hardware-backed vaults and sealing to the PAdES standard also positions us for the EU's eIDAS advanced-signature requirements as we expand. This page is general information, not legal advice — some documents (for example some wills and powers of attorney) have special execution rules.
